Scavenger Hunt to raise Awareness and Stop the Traffic (King)

THE STORY:

Charlotte has been ranked in the top 10 cities in the United States as a hub for human trafficking, in both domestic labor and sexually-oriented industries. However, despite this fact, the greater Charlotte community is unaware that such modern-day slavery even exists in our state, city, and neighborhoods.
As part of the efforts to bring human trafficking awareness both to the Charlotte School of Law student body and greater Charlotte community, Charlottelaw Advocates Against the Trafficking of Humans (CAATH) presents:

“STOP THE TRAFFIC(king)” Live Monopoly Contest
Thursday, October 9 - Sunday, October 12th

Date Change!!!!  Thursday October 23rd, through Sunday October 26th.

Join together with other human rights advocates in a multi-day race to bring the most social media awareness to an international problem that plagues even our own city.

IN SUPPORT OF:
All registration proceeds (and other generous donations) will be donated directly to

How to Participate:
  1. Register to compete as an individual or team (up to 4 people). Just make a donation and then email CAATH with your registration information here.  A $5 donation will get you registered as an individual.  A $15 donation registers your team. Register and donate here.
  2. Play.  On the race start day, your team will be emailed a game board with a list of notable, popular, and other significant locations around the Charlotte community to the human trafficking industry in Charlotte.
  3. Race to Raise Awareness.  Within the race time period, your team must visit as many local Charlotte locations as possible.
  4. Stop the Traffic!  At each location, participants must snap a selfie while holding a “Stop the Traffic(king)” sign of your own creation.
  5. Use Social Media.  Using social media posts and hashtags (Twitter, Facebook, and/or Instragram), participants must document each stop as proof for the contest and also part of the awareness raising campaign.

Happening tonight!

Please join us for a concert dedicated the church family of Front Street Baptist Church.

North Carolina Baptist Singers & Orchestra presents
A Mighty Fortress Is Our God
Monday, October 6, 2014
6:45 p.m.
Western Avenue Baptist Church
Free Concert.

On October 2, 2013, Front Street Baptist Church in Statesville suffered a great loss due to a tragic accident which took the lives of several members and injured many others.

The members of the NCBSO are grateful to be part of the extended family of Baptists in our state. It is their desire to dedicate the 2014-2015 concert season to this church family with the hope that through the worship time we share with those across our state, they will feel the prayers of love and encouragement offered on their behalf and be strengthened in the knowledge that God promises His abundant peace and hope to His children in times of joy and sorrow.

Please join us for this time of worship and thanksgiving for the work God has done in the lives of the church family of Front Street Baptist as well as our community throughout this past year.
